In a landscape saturated with martial arts styles—each with its own mystique, lineage claims, and proprietary techniques—a persistent question remains unanswered for the serious student: What is the complete science of unarmed combat?
Not a collection of tips, not a “self-defense” seminar, and certainly not a sport with rules. We mean the complete, immutable physics of human conflict. The engineering principles that govern every confrontation. A system so thorough it leaves no “what ifs,” only predictable cause and effect.
This science exists. It is called the White Lotus System of Unarmed Combat.
Modern Combat Martial Arts (MCMA) exists for one purpose: to be the most effective, transparent, and systematic teaching vehicle for the White Lotus System physical curriculum.
This is not an article about a unique “style.” It is about the commitment to teaching a system so complete that it makes the invention of new styles unnecessary.
The Problem: The Incomplete Puzzle
Most martial arts are fragments of the combative puzzle. A grappling art masters the micro-battles of the ground. A striking art dominates the space of kicks and punches. A “reality-based” system teaches aggressive responses to common attacks.
Each is a piece. None is the blueprint of the puzzle itself.
This incompleteness creates dangerous gaps. The striker is lost in the clinch. The grappler is vulnerable at distance. The tactical drill practitioner falters when the attack doesn’t match the pre-programmed scenario.
The student is left with a nagging uncertainty: “Do I know enough? Is there a situation I can’t handle?”
The White Lotus System was engineered from the ground up to eliminate this uncertainty. It is not a collection of techniques. It is a comprehensive analytical framework built on six categories of observable, manipulable elements. Once you understand the elements—Human, Biomechanical, Combative, Processing, Psychological, and Environmental—you can understand, predict, and control any unarmed engagement.
The MCMA Mission: Teaching the Machine
The role of MCMA is not that of a system creator. It is that of a certified teaching vehicle.
Think of the White Lotus System as the most advanced engine ever designed. Its blueprint—the theory, the physics, the elemental interactions—is contained within the White Lotus Digital Library (the intellectual property of Grand Master Brian K. Leishman).
Modern Combat Martial Arts is the garage where you learn to build and operate that engine.
Here is the clear, non-negotiable division:
- MCMA TEACHES: The physical mechanics. The exact placement of your limbs (Spatial Placement). The precise paths of your movements (Spatial Movement). The full-body integration of skills (Presentations). We teach the Six Core Fighting Skills—Guarding, Striking, Blocking, Parrying, Grappling, and Throwing—through a structured, belt-driven progression. Students learn via mirror neuron replication, following detailed protocols for tension, velocity, and form.
- THE DIGITAL LIBRARY CONTAINS: The intellectual framework. The six elemental categories, their definitions, and, most importantly, their cause-and-effect relationships. It answers the “why.” Why does this guard work against that strike? Why is this timing critical? Why does that tactical approach manipulate an opponent’s psychology? This requires separate purchase, as it is the core IP of the system.
This separation is not a barrier; it is a mark of respect for a complete science and a clarity of purpose. At MCMA, you get the most effective mechanical curriculum on the planet. With the Digital Library, you gain the underlying science that transforms you from a skilled operator into a strategic analyst.
The MCMA Curriculum: A Map, Not a Mystery
We reject ambiguity. The journey at MCMA is a clear, measurable architectural project.
PHASE 1: THE SOLO FOUNDATION (Basic Skill Development – BSD)
You cannot apply what you do not own. The first three belts are built in isolation, creating an unshakable, autonomous mechanical base.
- White Belt: One focus: Spatial Placement of Guarding. The 22 essential positions that form your defensive architecture. No applications, no partners—just perfect, repeatable form.
- Yellow Belt: Spatial Movement, transitioning guards with control, while beginning the placement of Striking weapons.
- Orange Belt: Full-Body Integration. Guards become whole-body presentations. Strikes integrate with footwork and power. The complete Blocking skill is learned. The phase culminates with Self-Defense Technique Forms—solo drills that wire the brain to sequence skills. The student now owns a complete, personal toolbox.
PHASE 2: PARTNER APPLICATION (Intermediate Skill Development – ISD)
Only with a solid toolbox can you learn to fix a car. From Green Belt onward, students apply their mechanics against a partner under increasing complexity.
- Green Belt: The Gateway to Partner Work. Drills now involve a partner providing “Isolated Combative Conditions.” The complete Parrying skill is also mastered.
- Blue Belt: Applications expand to Variable Conditions, requiring discriminative decision-making. The Grappling skill is completed.
- Brown Belt: Variable Conditions continue, integrating the sixth and final skill: Throwing.
- Black Belt (White Stripe): Synthesis. Mastery is demonstrated through fluent application under Random Combative Conditions across all six skills. This certifies the practitioner as an Expert Mechanic of the White Lotus System.
- Black Belt (Red Stripe): Scientific Combatant. All of the above, plus demonstrated applied knowledge of White Lotus Combative Elements from the Digital Library. This represents not just mechanical skill, but comprehension.
The Training Environment: Focus Over Facade
MCMA operates with radical honesty. Training is conducted in a focused, dedicated training space. This is not a commercial mega-gym filled with distractions. It is a disciplined environment where class sizes are intentionally limited to ensure precise instruction and direct feedback. This selective approach prioritizes the quality of skill development and the integrity of the learning process above all else.
The pathway is structured for clarity:
- Start with an introductory experience.
- Progress through unlimited group training.
- Deepen skills with personalized coaching.
- Master the science through the separate White Lotus Digital Library.
The Conclusion: Why MCMA Exists
Modern Combat Martial Arts exists because the White Lotus System is too important not to teach with integrity. It is the answer to the search for a complete combative science.
We do not teach fragments. We do not teach mystique. We do not claim to have invented a better wheel.
We teach the entire machine—its precise mechanical assembly and, for those who seek it, the profound engineering principles behind it. We offer a map where every belt is a defined checkpoint, and the destination is a level of comprehensible, applicable skill that eliminates uncertainty.
This is Modern Combat Martial Arts. We teach the White Lotus System of Unarmed Combat. Your journey from uncertainty to mastery starts here.
