Welcome. If you are seeking a clear, systematic, and demystified path to real-world competence in unarmed combat, you are in the right place.
Modern Combat Martial Arts (MCMA) teaches the White Lotus System of Unarmed Combat.
This is our core identity. We are not a unique style or a collection of personal theories. We are the authorized teaching vehicle for a complete science-based curriculum. Our sole purpose is to guide you through the proven, structured physical training of the White Lotus System, from foundational mechanics to applied proficiency.
The Core Distinction: Your Mechanics, Their Framework
Before you begin, understanding this distinction is critical to your journey.
- What MCMA Teaches: The Physical Mechanics.
We teach the what and how. You will learn precise physical exercises, strict training protocols, and the progressive mastery of the Six Core Fighting Skills (Guarding, Striking, Blocking, Parrying, Grappling, Throwing). Your learning process at this level is primarily mirror neuron replication—observing demonstrations and replicating exact forms. - What the White Lotus Digital Library Contains: The Intellectual Framework.
This is where the why resides. The Library houses the intellectual property of the system: the Six Elemental Categories (Human, Biomechanical, Combative, Processing, Psychology, Environmental) and their cause-and-effect relationships. This material requires a separate purchase and provides the comprehensive “combat science” behind every mechanical action you learn at MCMA.
Think of it this way: MCMA provides the precisely engineered parts and the manual for assembly. The White Lotus Digital Library provides the deep engineering schematics and physics principles that explain why the parts work. Both are essential for total mastery, but your training journey begins with the mechanics.
The Structured Training Pathway: Foundation Before Complexity
The White Lotus System is built on a non-negotiable principle: an unshakable solo foundation must precede all partner application. MCMA teaches this through a clean, two-phase progression.
Phase 1: Basic Skill Development (BSD) – The Solo Foundation
(White Belt to Orange Belt)
This phase has one focus: building flawless mechanical form in isolation. There is no sparring, no partner drills, and no ambiguous “self-defense techniques.” Here, you build the physical bedrock.
- White Belt: You learn Spatial Placement. Your exclusive focus is mastering the isolated, primary positions for one skill (starting with Guarding), with soft muscle tension and slow velocity. This is pure form and spatial awareness.
- Yellow Belt: You learn Spatial Movement. You master the precise actions between positions for your first skill, while beginning to learn the positions for the next skill (e.g., Striking).
- Orange Belt: You achieve Full-Body Integration. You bring your first skill to the presentation level, integrating it across your entire structure, while layering in the next phases of the curriculum.
Completion of Orange Belt signifies that your solo mechanical foundation is complete. You are now prepared for the next context.
Phase 2: Intermediate Skill Development (ISD) – Partner Application
(Green Belt to Black Belt)
Only with a solid BSD foundation do you begin partner work. ISD is not about learning new moves. It is about applying the exact same mechanics you mastered in BSD against the dynamic, resisting conditions provided by a training partner. This phase introduces structured exercises for managing Combative Elements like timing, distance, and tactics.
Who Is This Training For?
- The Skeptic: You are tired of martial arts mystique, tradition-based ambiguity, and unrealistic techniques. You want a systematic, science-based approach.
- The Beginner: You want to start correctly, with a coherent curriculum that builds from first principles, not a patchwork of techniques.
- The Experienced Practitioner: You feel the gaps in your knowledge—the “why” behind your techniques, or how skills connect between ranges. You seek a unifying framework to deepen and contextualize your existing abilities.
- The Critical Thinker: You value clear progression, measurable results, and a philosophy that replaces “because I said so” with “because of this elemental cause and effect.”
Your First Steps on the Path
- Build Your Foundation: Begin your journey in Basic Skill Development. Start with the structured online curriculum in our MCMA Skool Community or inquire about in-person training. This is where you will learn the physical mechanics.
- Seek Deep Understanding: When you are ready to move beyond replication and understand the science, pursue access to the White Lotus System Digital Library.
- Get Personalized Guidance: Accelerate your progress with 1-on-1 coaching via Zoom or in-person sessions for direct feedback and tailored instruction.

Respecting the System
MCMA operates with clear boundaries to honor the integrity of the White Lotus System. We teach the authorized physical curriculum. We do not create proprietary combat concepts. For the complete elemental framework and advanced strategic mastery beyond the ISD level, students are directed to the official White Lotus Digital Library and the teachings of Grand Master Brian K. Leishman, the system’s creator.
This is a path of clarity, discipline, and progressive mastery. If this structured, demystified approach resonates with you, your next step is clear.
